On Saturday, July 29, 2023, the Roosevelt Historical Society was in attendance as representatives from North Shore Land Alliance, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County and Family and Children’s Association collaborated on a beautification project at St. Francis Park in Roosevelt.
Family and Children’s Association brought in student volunteers from Hempstead and Roosevelt to assist in the project, which included placing a bed of native plants near the entrance to the park.
St. Francis Park, located near the southeast corner of Roosevelt is a park that has been under-utilized for years, however recent efforts by some community members, especially those in attendance at the event on Saturday, seek to change how the park’s future can be an integral part of the green space offered by the Town of Roosevelt.
The Roosevelt Historical Society was proud to witness this event and we look forward to future efforts by all community stakeholders to tap into the potential for the park to allow all who visit to enjoy nature.
